Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to Open Long-awaited Horse & Cattle Show on February 9th
Lahore, February 4, 2025:
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has planned a grand Horse & Cattle Show, which the Punjab government will host. This show, the first in 30 years, aims to celebrate Punjab’s rich traditions and culture and support local farmers. The event will start on February 9, 2025, under the theme “Unity, Progress, and Restoration of Culture.”
The show will run from February 9 to 23 in Lahore, kicking off with a three-day national event starting February 10. For the first time in three decades, 70 international teams will join, marking the return of the show that began in 1964 and last took place in 1995.

Farmers will have a chance to showcase their animals and win prizes at this traditional fair. The event will feature various competitions, including spear-throwing, archery, buzkashi, and polo, where horse riders will demonstrate their skills. Additionally, there will be cultural festivals, flower shows, and competitions.
For entertainment, there will be children’s games and events from February 13 to 23, and a music festival from February 14 to 16 to highlight Punjabi cuisine, drinks, and music. A special Sufi Festival is set for February 19 to honor Punjab’s Sufi leaders and share their teachings. Traditional Kabaddi sports will take place on February 18 and 19, and a unique car show is scheduled for February 16.
Chief Minister Sharif stated, “The Horse & Cattle Show is a celebration for all people in Punjab, including our farmers. It’s not just about reviving our traditions; it’s about boosting agriculture and promoting harmony among our people.”
A Steering Committee led by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, along with the Parks & Horticulture Authority, has been preparing for this event for the past four months.
