Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Tuesday that the government will not include Utility Stores in this year’s Ramadan Relief Package to avoid corruption and the distribution of poor-quality products to the public.

During a federal cabinet meeting, PM Shehbaz explained, “As the holy month of Ramadan is approaching, I have directed the Ministry of National Food Security to prepare a Ramadan Package that does not involve Utility Stores. This is to stop corruption and the sale of low-quality goods. I had raised this concern several months ago about the utility stores.”

He told the cabinet members that there had been many complaints last year about how Utility Stores managed the Ramadan Relief Package. He added that the government has now found a way to provide the relief package without involving Utility Stores.

Speaking about the polio vaccination campaign, he mentioned the tragic death of a police officer, Abdul Khaliq, in Jamrud, who was protecting the polio team. He honored his sacrifice towards making Pakistan polio-free.

He also commended the dedication of the PM’s Health Coordinator Dr. Mukhtar, Polio Coordinator Dr. Ayesha Farooq, the Secretary of Health, and the polio vaccinators for their relentless efforts to eliminate polio from Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz also shared details of his visit to Quetta on Monday, where he went to the hospital to visit security officers injured during an anti-terror operation in Kalat. This operation resulted in the deaths of 18 security personnel and the elimination of 23 terrorists.
